Where IS the live music scene...?

Here on Florida's west central gulf coast, live music is alive and well. On any given night, if you're willing to drive the littlest bit, from Crystal River to the North to Sarasota/Bradenton to the south, you can find some great music at a good venue and have a grand time.

From mega-venues like Mid-Florida Credit Union Ampitheater and the Benchmark International Arena to the seats and sections of the Tampa Theater, Ruth Eckerd Hall, the Palladium, Mahaffey Theater, the Capitol, the Hard Rock Cafe, and the parklike places like The Sound, the Vinoy Basin, Sims Park, Sunset Beach, and the Brooksville Bandshell and from the big hotspots like Skippers Smokehouse, Jannus Live,

Orange County Choppers, Quaker Steak & Lube, the Orpheum, the Stockyard to the juke joints, tiki huts, breweries, distilleries, and clubs that line the coast and the downtowns and the backroads... man oh man... what a SCENE we have here!

Stay tuned... I'm gonna tell ya all about it... and hey. that's JUST the venues... we haven't even BEGUN to consider the TALENT that lives, and survives, and thrives, and dies right here - cuz here is paradise, man. Paradise. and it's a good place... for all of that.

What does it mean to be a promoter? According to music.careers.com, Promoters do just what their name suggests -they promote live shows. But more than just promoting the show, promoters also organize shows and book the bands. The basic duties of a promoter are to secure a venue for a show, promote the show via the media, work with the bands, sponsors, vendors and others to make sure all the show needs are covered (PA system, lighting, safety, vendors, etc.) and ensure that it is a good, well organized event. Some promoters put on shows for the love of it and actually end up spending more than they make. Winding River Promotions' business model focuses on putting together musical events which are a win-win for everyone involved. If attendees, musicians, venue owners, vendors and sponsors all walk away saying "wow, what a great time!", then we've done our job.
